If the warning lamp lights up, stop immediately, switch the engine off, the cooling fan may conti-
nue to operate for a while , and allow to cool before checking the coolant level, taking the pre-
cautions described in chapter IV - Maintenance - "Levels, checks".
Engine overheating can have various causes. Contact your nearest dealer.
Fuel gaugeWhen the low level warning lamp comes on continuously with the vehicle on level ground, there are approximately 6 litres of fuel remaining in the tank. Reservoir capacity (in litres):

Immediate STOP command Lights simultaneous- ly with another war-
ning lamp.
Handbrake and lowbrake fluid level war-ning With the engine running,
the warning lamp indicates that the handbrake is on, or is not fullyreleased, or that the brake fluid
level is too low. See Chapter II - Ç Brakes È and Chapter IV Ç Levels È.
Battery charge Must not light when the engine is running. If it
lights continuously, con-
tact your nearest dealer. Low coolant level If the warning lamp comes on: stop the vehicle.
Check the level (see chapter IV -Maintenance - Ç Levels È).
Engine oil pressure If it comes on while driving, stop the engine and checkthe level (refer to section IV
Ð Maintenance Ç Levels È). If it remains on, despite the level being correct, contact the nearest
dealer.
Low level fuel warning
When it comes on conti-
nuously, there areapproximately 6 litres offuel left in the tank. Coolant temperaturewarning lamp If the warning lamp

On TURBO DIESEL versions:
¥ Orange lamp on = warning.
Reduce speed, the lamp should go out.
¥ STOP and orange warning lamps
on = Danger (stop immediately).

¥ S : Steering lock
To free the steering, turn the steering wheel slightly at the same time as tur- ning the key; avoid using undue force.
¥ A : Accessories
Allows certain electrical accessories to be used. The battery charge warning lamp illuminates.
¥ M : Ignition The following warning lamps should come on: battery charge, handbrake, oil
pressure, engine coolant temperature According to the specific version of
vehicle, the following warning lamps should also come on: Stop, ABS, Engineautodiagnostic, Preheating (Diesel), Front airbag. If one of these lamps fails to light, it could indicate a fault in the system concerned. ¥ D : Starter Release the key as soon as the engine has started. Never operate with the engine running.
These warning lamps are tested with the ignition key in the ignition on position.

Air intake Keep the air intake grille in front of the windscreen clear
of dead leaves, snow, etc. If a high pressure wash be used, avoid directing the jet of water at the air intake. Air vents The air vents have thumb-wheels to control and direct the
airflow (high-low, left-right). Air circulation Optimum comfort depends on the even distribution of the air in the passenger compartment, both at the front and
at the rear. Air vents in the floor beneath the front seats provide
improved heating to the rear seating area. These ventsmust not be obstructed.

1 - Air distribution control Air flow from the front vents. Air flow to the footwells and rear seats. Air flow to the footwells and windscreen and side windows. Distribution of air to the windscreen and the side windows.Demisting Ð De-icing.
2 - Isolation of passenger compartment* Intake of outside air. Optimum position for demisting.
Recycled interior air. This position prevents the entry of unpleasant odours into the vehicle. It is recommended that the control not be
left in the recycling position for longer than necessary. The normal position will provide a continuous fresh airsupply to the passenger compartment and will avoid misting of the windows.
3 - Heater blower control slider. For optimum comfort inside the passenger compartment, this control should not be left in the minimum position.
