KEYS7I-2
WARNING
Never interfere with the electronic immobiliser electrical circuit as this could make it impossible to start the vehicle.
Loss of the confidential card will
necessitate extensive and costly repairs by the dealer network.
22-04-2003
CODED card
A confidential card is given to the new owner when he takes deliveryof his new vehicle. This card bears a hidden access code to be used by the dealer whenmaintaining the electronic immobili-ser device. Do not scratch the protective strip , the immobiliser depends on it
remaining undamaged. Should the card be lost, the immo- biliser device can no longer beconsidered secure. The card must be passed on to the new owner should the vehicle be sold. Keep the card in a safe place.Never leave it in the vehicle. Advice Keep the coded card bearing your personal electronic immobiliser number in a safe place (never in the vehicle). In the event of losing your keys or the remote control, only a dealer can provide you with replacement ones using these numbers. If any key modifications become necessary (addition, cancellation or replace- ment of the key), you must take the confidential card the dealer network.

CHILD RESTRAINTS117
From 3 to 6 years
(from 15 to 25kg):
A restraining cushion, which enables the child to sit in the rear in the Òforwards-facingÓ position, securedusing a 2 or 3 point seat belt.
By law a child can only be transported in the front of the vehicle in the following cases: ¥ When the rear seats do not allow for installation of such a seat (because they are missing or folded down).
¥ When the number of children is such that they cannot all be transported in the rear.
So that your children travel in complete safety whatever their age ,
Peugeot has tested and selected a range of approved restraining equipment,
designed to offer maximum protection in the event of an impact. This is avai-lable within the Peugeot network. From 6 to 10 years
(from 22 to 36kg):
A booster more adapted to large children installed in the Òforwards-facingÓ position on rear seats fitted witha 3 point seat belt. ÒISOFIXÓ MOUNTINGS
Available on the side rear seat cushions (2nd row), on the indivi-dual front passenger seat and theside passenger seat (2-seaterbench seat), the Isofix mountingsallow the fitting of a
special child
seat , sold within the PEUGEOT
network. The locks incorporated in the child seat fit onto the Isofix mountings and ensure safe, reliable and fast
assembly.
Never leave a child or an animal in a vehicle which is exposed to the sun, with the windows closed. In order to protect your young children from the suns rays: fit sun blinds to the rear windows.Never leave the keys within reach if children inside the vehicle.Strap children into their child seats, even on short journeys.Observe closely the installation and fitting recommendations as indicated in the child seat instructions.

FUEL CUT-OFF SWITCH*63IV-4
Before switching on the ignition,
make sure that there are no fuel leaks or smells.
To provide additional security in the event of front or rear impacts, your vehicle
is fitted with a safety device which cuts off the fuel supply.
22-04-2003
Fuel cut-off switch The switch is located in the engine compartment on either the left or right hand front suspension tower depending on engine type.
To re-establish the fuel supply
, depress the upper section of the switch as shown in the diagram.

SEAT BELTS114
Replacing the pyrotechnic pretensioner systems
They must be replaced following deployment or within ten years after first
registration of the vehicle. This must be done by the dealer network. In accordance with the strict security regulations in force, any repairs or checks must be performed exclusively by the dealer network. Any repairs that have not been carried out in strict compliance with the regulations could prevent the systems from operating correctly or couldcause their premature deployment, with the risk of bodily injuries.
Warning When the pretensioners are deployed, there is a light dischargeof harmless smoke and a loudnoise, both due to the detonation ofthe integral explosive cartridgesthat activate them.
22-04-2003
Seat belts equipped with pyrotechnic pretensioners and grabbers
¥ The purpose of the pretensioners is to tension the front seat belts in such a
way as to pull the occupants back into their seat, thereby improving the seat
belt's effectiveness.
¥ As the pretensioners activate, the seat belt grabber locks the belt. As the seat belt locks, only a very slight extension of the belt takes place and fur-ther forward movement of the occupant during the impact is restricted.
In the event of an accident or violent braking, the seat belt will restrain theoccupants and prevent them from being thrown from the vehicle. It is for this reason that legislation demands that both front and rear seat occu- pants wear a seat belt, including pregnant women.

SEAT BELTS115
- Make all seat belt adjustments when the vehicle is stationary.
- Do not allow the seat belt to rest on any hard or breakable objectsin your pockets.
- Do not use any type of clip or clamp which would prevent the seat belt from tensioning correctly.
- Never use the same seat belt for more than one occupant.
- Never carry a child on your lap.
- Check the seat belts and attachments regularly for cleanliness.
- Have the seat belts checked periodically by your dealer, especially after an accident (even if only minor).
To put on the seat belts: Grip the buckle and withdraw the seat belt smoothly across yourbody making sure that it is not twis-ted. Insert the buckle tongue into itsfixed section of the buckle and pushhome to lock. Pull to check that issecurely located. The lap strap must be positioned as low as possible across the pelvisand should be as tight as possible. The backrest of the seat should be as close to vertical as possible toavoid any risk of slipping beneaththe belt in an impact.
22-04-2003
SEAT BELTS FRONT The front seats of your vehicle are fitted with height adjustable inertiareel seat belts and pretensionerand grabbing devices.
Two of the three rear seat belts are of the inertia reel type. The wearing of seat belts is obli- gatory for all the occupants ofthe vehicle.
To offer the maximum degree of protection, it is essential that the
seat belt is worn correctly.
Adjusting the height of theupper seat belt anchorage The shoulder strap must be positio- ned across the centre of the shoul-der (see diagram). Never allow theseat belt to run across the neck norunder the arm.

BATTERY119
BEWARE
Never expose a battery to a naked flame or spark (explosive gases present).
The battery contains dilute sulphuric acid which is corrosive.
When handling a battery, protect the hands, eyes and face. In case of contact with the skin, rinse immediately and abundantly with clean water.
Removal Disconnect the battery leads, negati- ve lead first and then remove the
securing clamp to release the battery. Refitting Reconnect the battery starting with the positive lead first. If the vehicle is not used for a prolonged period If the vehicle is to be taken out of use for periods of more than onemonth, the battery should be dis-connected.
* According to model or country Precautions Ensure that the posts and terminals are clean. If they become sulphated, dis- connect and clean them. Never disconnect the leads while the engine is run-ning. Never recharge the battery without first disconnecting the leads. Do notoperate electrical equipment before the engine has reached its operating tem-perature. Starting the engine for the first time after disconnecting and connecting the battery:
- Switch on the ignition.
- Wait 10 seconds before operating the starter to allow the electronic systems
to be reinitialised following the disconnection of the battery. Enter the radio security code*.
Charging a battery The voltage must never exceed 15.5 volts and the charging current must never exceed 20% of the rating marked on the battery casing. For example: L1 250 - Setting: 50 amps maximum. The battery charge period should not exceed 24 hours.Only battery chargers with a constant, regulated voltage output should be used. If the vehicle is used in hot conditions (30¡C and higher) If the battery is fitted with filler plugs, the electrolyte level should be checked
periodically. The electrolyte should just cover the plates. Top up if necessary
using distilled water.
