Always remove the key from the ignition when leaving thevehicle, even for a short time. In the event of contact when operating the windows, youmust reverse the movement of
the window. To do this, pressthe switch concerned. When the driver operates the passenger window switches, hemust ensure that no one is pre-venting correct closing of the
window. The driver must ensure that passengers use the electric win-
dows correctly. Be aware of children when ope- rating the windows.

Before switching on the ignition,
make sure that there are no fuel leaks or smells.
To provide additional security in the event of front or rear impacts, your vehicle
is fitted with a safety device which cuts off the fuel supply.

Fuel cut-off switch The switch is located in the engine compartment on either the left or right hand front suspension tower depending on engine type.
To re-establish the fuel supply
, depress the upper section of the switch as shown in the diagram.

Lowering the handbrake lever without releasing the handbrake. Engage the handbrake firmly and de-clutch the lever by pulling the release button out. To return the lever to its nor-
mal position, pull it upwards until the pawl engages.When the lever is de-clutched, the warning lamp will remain lit indicating that the handbrake is not released. Handbrake
To create a passage between the front seats, the handbrake lever is mounted
to the right of the driverÕs seat. The handbrake is operated by pulling the lever firmly up - pressing the foot-
brake will reduce the effort required to apply the handbrake. The handbrake is capable of holding the vehicle on all slopes likely to be
encountered but increased effort will be needed on steep slopes.
In all circumstances, as a precautionary measure, engage first gear.On steep slopes, turn the steering towards the kerb.
To release the brake, pull the lever lightly up, press the button on the end of the lever and return the lever to the fully down position. The warning lamp will come on if the handbrake is on or not fully released when the
engine is running .

Direction indicator lamps Open the bonnet, release the lamp by pressing the clip. Draw the lamp forward to remove. Disconnect by pressing the spring
clip on the connector.
Turn the bulb holder by an eighth of a turn and pull out. Reconnect and refit the lamp, enga- ging the fingers in their guides.Side repeater direction indicator* Push the lamp towards the front to unclip it and pull towards you.
Turn the bulb holder a quarter of a turn.

Access to the spare wheelThe spare wheel carrier retaining bolt is located close to the outer edge of the
rear floor. Slacken the retaining screw using the wheel brace.Raise the carrier slightly to disengage the retaining hook.

The jack is designed specifically for your vehicle,do not use it for other applications.
Replacing the spare wheel in the carrier
Slide the spare wheel back into its carrier.Lift the carrier up and re-engage the retaining hook.Retighten the screw from inside the load area.Stow the tools.

Advice The wheel bolts are specific to the type of wheel fitted. If the type of wheel is changed, check with your dealer that thewheel bolts are compatible.

BEWARE
If the engine is not running,
the steering and braking systems will not be power-assisted.
Towing with the front or rear wheels lifted Use special towing equipment with a rigid bar and straps.Attach the hooks to each of the suspension arms.
Take the necessary precautions to protect the bumper and the front or rear of the vehicle.
NEVER TOW THE VEHICLE WITH THE FRONT OR REAR ENDS LIFTED AND THE WHEELS HANGING FREE.

Towing with all wheels on the ground
Towing rings are situated at the front and rear of the vehicle.
To prevent the steering from loc- king, the ignition key must be inposition "A". Use a bar with hooks to attach to the rings. Advice In exceptional circumstances, it is permitted to tow the vehicle
at low
speed over a short distance (in
accordance with the local legisla-tion in force). In all other cases, the vehicle must be transported by a trans-
porter.
