In the "OFF" position, the passenger
air bag will not be triggered in the event of an impact. As soon as the child seat is remo- ved, turn the air bag slot to the "ON"
position to re-activate the air bag andthus ensure the safety of your pas-senger in the event of an impact. Operating check This is confirmed by an indicator light, accompanied by an audiblesignal and a message on the multi-
function display.
With the ignition on (2ndnotch), illumination of thiswarning light accompaniedby an audible signal and themessage "Passenger air
bag disarmed" on the multifunction
display, indicates that the passengerair bag is disarmed (switch in the"OFF" position). SIDE AIR BAGS* AND
CURTAIN AIR BAGS* The side air bags are incorporated into the front seat backs on the doorside. The curtain air bags are incorporated into the door pillars and the upperpart of the passenger compartment. They are deployed independently of each other depending on which sidethe collision occurs. Operating check This is confirmed by an indicator light, accompanied by an audiblesignal and a message on the multi-
function display.
If this indicator light comes on,accompanied by an audiblesignal and the message "Air bag fault" on the multi-
function display, contact a
PEUGEOT dealer to have thesystem checked.
* According to destination.

is fixed properly.
Reconnect the connector.
Refit the protective cover, positioning it with the arrowupwards, then turn it a quarter of a turn to the right. The headlamps are fitted with polycarbonate glass with aprotective coating.
Do not clean them with a dry or
abrasive cloth, nor with a detergent or solvent product. Use a sponge and soapy water.
4 - Side lights W 5 W. Pull the socket rearwards, remove the bulb and chan- ge it.
5 - Direction indicators (PY 21 W amber). Turn the bulb holder a quarter of a turn and remove it.
Change the bulb.
Note: In certain climatic conditions (low temperature,
humidity), condensation inside the headlamp glass is
normal ; it disappears a few minutes after the lights are
switched on.

CHANGING A WINDSCREEN WIPER BLADE Placing the wiper blades in the maintenance position Within one minute of switching
off the ignition, operate thewipers stalk to position the wiperblades in the centre of the wind-screen (maintenance position).
Changing a wiper blade Lift the wiper arm, then unclip the blade and remove it.
Fit the new blade and push backthe arm.
Note : the shortest blade is fitted on
the vehicle's right-hand windscreenwiper arm.
To return the windscreen wipers to their normal position, switch onthe ignition and operate the wiperstalk. ECONOMY MODE FUNCTION After the engine has stopped, certain functions (windscreen wipers, elec-tric windows, panoramic roofconcealing flap, courtesy lights, audio equipment etc.) can only beused for thirty minutes, to prevent
discharging the battery.
Once the thirty minutes are over, the message
"Economy mode active"
appears on the multi-function displayand the active functions are put on
standby.
To resume use of these functions, start the engine and let it run for afew seconds. LOAD REDUCTIONFUNCTION When driving, certain functions (air conditioning, heated rear screen, heating system for passenger com-partment of diesel vehicles, etc.)
may be switched off temporarily, depending on the level of batterycharge. Reactivation of these functions is automatic, once the battery charge is
sufficient. Note:
at the risk of discharging the
battery, the functions that have been
switched off may be reactivated
manually.

TOWING A TRAILER,
CARAVAN, BOAT ETC.
Only use original PEUGEOT tow bars that have been tested andapproved from the design stage of
your vehicle. The tow bar must be fit-
ted by a PEUGEOT dealer.
Your vehicle is basically designed for transporting people and luggage butit may also be used for towing a trai-
ler. Driving with a trailer subjects the towing vehicle to more significantstress and its driver must be particu-larly careful. Air density decreases with altitude, thus reducing engine performance.Above 1000 metres, the maximumtowing load must be reduced by 10%and so on for every 1000 metres ofaltitude.Driving advice Distribution of loads Distribute the load in the trailer so that the heaviest items are as closeas possible to the axle and the noseweight approaches the maximumpermitted without exceeding it. Cooling
Towing a trailer on a slope increases the temperature of the coolant. As the fan is electrically controlled, its cooling capacity is not dependenton the engine speed.
On the contrary, use a high gear to lower the engine speed, and reduceyour speed. The maximum towing load on a long slope depends on the gradient andthe outside temperature. In all cases, pay attention to the coolant temperature. If the warning light comes on, stop
the vehicle and switch off the engineas soon as possible.Tyres Check the tyre pressures of the
towing vehicle and of the trailer, observing the recommended pres-sures. Braking
Towing increases the braking distance. Lights Check the electrical signalling on the
trailer. Side wind
Take into acount the increased sen- sitivity to side wind.
