GLOVE BOX
lOpen glove box, and remove glove box pin from inside.
LOWER INSTRUMENT PANEL
lPull clips forward from instrument reinforcement, and then
remove tab inside instrument lower panel from lower edge of
blower unit.
GLOVE BOX COVER
1. Remove screws.
2. Pull straight forward to remove from steering member bracket.
FRONT PASSENGER AIR BAG MODULE
lRemove mounting bolts. Remove front passenger air bag module. Refer toSRS-33, "FRONT PASSEN-
GER AIR BAG MODULE".
INSTRUMENT MASK
lInsert a slotted screwdriver, wrapped with a shop cloth, into cutout on the instrument mask. Unfasten and
remove tab.
FRONT PILLAR GARNISH
lPull front pillar garnish straight forward to inner side of vehicle. Unfasten and remove metal clip.
Refer toEI-26, "
BODY SIDE TRIM".
INSTRUMENT PANEL
1. Remove key interlock cable. Refer toAT-452, "KEY INTERLOCK CABLE".

1. Remove the glove box cover.
2. Remove the blower fan resistor.
CAUTION:
Do not repair the thermal fuse of the fan resistor.

REMOVAL
CAUTION:
lBefore servicing SRS, turn the ignition switch off, disconnect the battery ground cable and wait at
least 3 minutes.
lAlways work from the side of or under front passenger air bag module.
1. Remove the glove box. Refer toSRS-27, "
DRIVER AIR BAG MODULE".
2. Disconnect the front passenger air harness connector.
3. Remove front passenger fixing bolts
:19.6-29.4N·m(2.0-3.0kg-m, 15-21ft-lb)
4. Pull front passenger air bag module upward. Then remove front
passenger air bag module from instrument panel.
CAUTION:
lAlways place front passenger air bag module with caution
label side facing upward.
lDo not insert any foreign objects (screwdriver, etc.) into
front passenger air bag module.
lDo not attempt to disassemble front passenger air bagmod-
ule.
lDo not use old bolts after removal; replace with new bolts.
lReplace front passenger air bag module if it has been
dropped or sustained an impact.
lDo not expose the front passenger air bag module to tem-
peratures exceeding 90°C(194°F).
lDo not allow oil, grease or water to come in contact with the front passenger air bag module.
lAfter front passenger air bag module inflates, the instrument panel assembly should be replaced.
INSTALLATION
To install, reverse the removal procedure.
CAUTION:
lAlways work from the side of or under front passenger air bag module.
