µIf you are
traveling far from home and can no
longer receive the stations you
preset, you can use the Auto Select
feature to find stations in the local
area.
If you are in a remote area, Auto
Select may not f ind six strong AM
stations or twelve strong FM stations.
If this happens, you will see a ‘‘0’’
displayed when you press any preset
button that does not have a station
stored. To activate Auto Select, press the
A. SEL button. A. SEL will f lash in
the display, and the system will go
into scan mode f or several seconds.
It automatically scans both bands,
looking f or stations with strong
signals. It stores the f requencies of
six AM stations and twelve FM
stations in the preset buttons. You
can then use the preset buttons to
select those stations. If you do not like the stations Auto
Select has stored, you can store
other f requencies in the preset
buttons. Use the TUNE, SEEK, or
SCAN f unction to f ind the desired
f requencies, then store them in the
selected preset buttons as described
previously.Auto Select does not erase the
f requencies that you preset pre-
viously. When you return home, turn
of f Auto Select by pressing the
A. SEL button. The preset buttons
will then select the f requencies you
originally set.

band: TUNE, SEEK, SCAN or the
Preset buttons.
Use the TUNE knob to
tune the radio to a desired f requency.
Turn the TUNE knob to the right to
tune to a higher f requency, or to the
lef t to tune to a lower f requency.
Turn the knob right or lef t until the
display reaches the desired
f requency.
You can store the
f requencies of your f avorite radio
stations in the six preset buttons.

then release it. Depending on which
button you press, the system scans
upward or downward f rom the
current f requency. It stops when it
finds a station with a strong signal. The SCAN f unction
samples all the stations with strong
signals on the selected band. To
activate it, press the SCAN button,
then release it. When the system is
in the SCAN mode, SCAN shows in
the display. The system will scan up
the band for a station with a strong
signal. When it f inds one, it will stop
and play that station for
approximately f ive seconds. If you do
nothing, the system will then scan
f or the next strong station and play
that f or f ive seconds. When it plays a
station that you want to continue
listening to, press the SCAN button

After loading the cassette, select the
cassette player with the TAPE

On the rear control panel, use the
PROG/PLAY button to reverse the
tape’s direction. Use the and buttons to skip. Press the
button to skip forward to the
beginning of the next song or
passage. You will see FF f lashing in
the display. Press the button to
skip backward to the beginning of
the current song or passage. You will
seeREVflashinginthedisplay. On the remote control, use the
PROG/PLAY button to reverse the
tape’s direction. Press the FWD or
REW button to f ast f orward or
rewind the tape. Press either of
those buttons or the PROG/PLAY
button to return to playing the tape.
To skip to the beginning of the next
song or passage, press the
button. You will see FF

The batteries are under the domed
covers on the back of each earpiece.
To remove a cover, press down on it
with your thumb, slide it backward
(away f rom the headband), then lif t
it up. Remove the battery and note
its polarity. Install the new battery in
theearpiecewiththepolaritythe
same. Set the cover in place, then
slide it up until it locks. Each
headphone uses two AAA batteries.
The audio f or the rear entertainment
system is sent to the wireless
headphones that come with the
system. To turn on the headphones,
presstheredbuttonontheearpiece.
Adjust the volume level with the dial
at the bottom of the same earpiece.
To adjust the comf ort of the
headphones, slide the earpieces up
or down the headband.
For greater battery lif e, turn of f the
headphones when they are not in use
by pressing the red button again.
They will turn of f automatically if
they do not receive an audio signal
f rom the system f or several minutes.
When not in use, store the
headphones in the pocket on the
back of either f ront seat.
Some state and local goverment
agencies prohibit the use of
headphones by the driver of a motor
vehicle. Always obey applicable laws

Since lighting and wiring vary in
trailer type and brand, you should
also have a qualif ied mechanic install
a suitable connector between the
vehicleandthetrailer.
All states and Canadian provinces
require some type of trailer lights.
Check requirements f or the areas
where you plan to tow.
To get to your vehicle’s trailer
lighting connector, open the tailgate,
remove the cargo cover, then
remove the rear panel trim. The
connector is on the lef t side. We
recommend that you have your
Honda dealer install a Honda wiring
harness and converter. This harness
has been designed and tested f or
your vehicle.
If you use a non-Honda trailer
lighting harness and converter, you
cangetthematingconnectorand
pins that mate with the connector in
your vehicle f rom your Honda dealer.

The route presents limits (some
roads are too steep and bumpy f or
example). You have limits (in driving
skills and comf ort). And your vehicle
also has limits (traction, stability, and
power, f or instance).
Driving of f -highway can be
hazardous if you f ail to recognize
limits and take proper precautions.
For example, you can have an
accident or rollover during
maneuvers such as turning, driving
on hills, or over large obstacles.
On many unpaved roads, you won’t
f ind lane markers, traf f ic signals, or
signs to warn you of possible trouble
ahead. It’s up to you to continually
assess the situation and drive within
limits.
Remember that your Pilot has higher
ground clearance and a higher
center of gravity than passenger
vehicles designed f or use only on
pavement. This means your vehicle
can more easily tip or roll over if you
make abrupt turns or drive on slopes.
Be sure to store cargo properly, and
do not exceed your Pilot cargo load
limits (see pages and ).
Utility vehicles have a signif icantly
higher rollover rate than other types
of vehicles. To avoid loss of control
or rollover, be sure to f ollow all
recommendations and precautions
on page and in this section.
Seat belts are just as important of f -
road as on paved roads. Wherever
you drive, make sure you and your
passengers always wear seat belts. If
children or inf ants are along f or the
ride, see that they are properly
secured. In a rollover crash, an
unbelted person is more likely to die
than a person wearing a seat belt. 230
