Change Engine Oil Light
This light is displayed when the engine oil needs to be
changed.
Once the engine oil has been changed, the CHANGE
ENG OIL light must be reset. Until it is reset, the light will
be displayed when the engine is on.
Security Light
This light will come on brie¯y when you turn the key
toward START. The light will stay on until the engine
starts.
If the light ¯ashes, the Passlock
žsystem has entered a
tamper mode. If the vehicle fails to start, seePasslockž
on page 2-18.
If the light comes on continuously while driving and
stays on, there may be a problem with the Passlock
ž
system. Your vehicle will not be protected by Passlockž,
and you should see your dealer.

Cruise Control Light
Your vehicle may have this feature. The CRUISE light
appears whenever you set your cruise control.
Reduced Engine Power Light
This light is displayed when a noticeable reduction in
the vehicle's performance may occur. The vehicle may
be driven at a reduced speed when the reduced
engine power light is on but acceleration and speed
may be reduced. The performance may be reduced until
the next time you drive your vehicle. If this light stays
on, see your dealer as soon as possible for diagnosis
and repair.
This light may also come on if there is a problem with
the Electronic Throttle Control (ETC) system. If this
happens, take the vehicle in for service as soon

Service Four-Wheel Drive Warning
Light
This light should come on brie¯y when you turn on the
ignition, as a check to show you it is working.
The SERVICE 4WD light comes on to indicate that
there may be a problem with the drive system and
service is required. Malfunctions can be indicated by the
system before any problem is apparent, which may
prevent serious damage to the vehicle. This system is
also designed to assist your service technician in
correctly diagnosing a malfunction.
Check Gages Warning Light
The CHECK GAGES light will come on brie¯y when you
are starting the engine.
If the light comes on and stays on while you are driving,
check your coolant temperature and engine oil
pressure gages to see if they are in the warning zones. United StatesCanada

Gate Ajar Light
If this light comes on, your liftgate or liftglass is ajar. Try
closing the liftgate or liftglass again. Never drive with
the liftgate or liftglass even partially open.
Fuel Gage
When the ignition is on, the fuel gage tells you about
how much fuel you have remaining. United States

Here are four things that some owners ask about. None
of these show a problem with your fuel gage:
·At the gas station, the gas pump shuts off before
the gage reads full.
·It takes a little more or less fuel to ®ll up than the
gage indicated. For example, the gage may have
indicated the tank was half full, but it actually took a
little more or less than half the tank's capacity to
®ll the tank.
·The gage moves a little when you turn a corner or
speed up.
·The gage doesn't go back to empty when you turn
off the ignition.
Low Fuel Warning Light
The light next to the fuel gage will come on brie¯y when
you are starting the engine.
This light comes on when the fuel tank is low on fuel.
To turn it off, add fuel to the fuel tank.
Driver Information Center (DIC)
Your vehicle may have this feature. The DIC display
is located on the instrument panel cluster above
the steering wheel. The DIC can display information
such as the trip odometer, fuel economy and
personalization features. The DIC buttons are located
on the steering wheel.
A.Trip Information:Press this button to display the
odometer, trip odometer and the timer.
B.Fuel Information:Press this button to display the
current range, average fuel economy, instant
fuel economy and engine oil life.
C.Personalization:Press this button to change
personal settings for some of the options on your
vehicle.
D.Select:Press this button to reset certain functions
and turn off or acknowledge messages on the DIC.

Personalization
You can program certain features to a preferred setting
for up to two people. Press the personalization button
to scroll through the following personalization features.
All of the personalization options may not be available
on your vehicle. Only the options available will be
displayed on your DIC.

·AUTOMATIC UNLOCKING
·SEAT POSITION RECALL
·PERIMETER LIGHTING
·REMOTE LOCK FEEDBACK

·DISPLAY UNITS (E/M)
·DISPLAY LANGUAGE
The driver's preferences are recalled by pressing the
unlock button on the remote keyless entry transmitter or
by pressing the appropriate memory button 1 or 2
located on the driver's door.
Alarm Warning Type
Press the personalization button until ALARM
WARNING TYPE appears in the display. To select your
personalization for alarm warning type, press the
select button while ALARM WARNING TYPE is
displayed on the DIC. Pressing the select button will
scroll through the following choices:
·ALARM WARNING: BOTH (default)
·ALARM WARNING: OFF
·ALARM WARNING: HORN
·ALARM WARNING: LAMPS
If you choose BOTH, the headlamps will ¯ash and the
horn will chirp when the alarm is active.
If you choose OFF, there will be no alarm warning on
activation.
If you choose HORN, the horn will chirp when the alarm
is active.
If you choose LAMPS, the headlamps will ¯ash when
the alarm is active.
Choose one of the four options and press the
personalization button while it is displayed on the DIC to
select it and move on to the next feature. For more

Seat Position Recall
Press the personalization button until SEAT POSITION
RECALL appears in the display. To select your
personalization for seat position recall, press the select
button while SEAT POSITION RECALL is displayed
on the DIC. Pressing the select button will scroll through
the following choices:
·SEAT POSITION RECALL OFF (default)
·SEAT POSITION RECALL AT KEY IN
·SEAT POSITION RECALL ON REMOTE
If you choose seat recall off, the memory seat position
you saved will only be recalled when the memory
button 1or 2 is pressed.
If you choose seat recall at key in, the memory seat
position you saved will be recalled when you put the key
in the ignition.
If you choose seat recall on remote, the memory seat
position you saved will be recalled when you unlock the
vehicle with the remote keyless entry transmitter.
Choose one of the three options and press the
personalization button while it is displayed on the DIC to
select it and move on to the next feature.
Perimeter Lighting
Press the personalization button until PERIMETER
LIGHTING appears in the display. To select your
personalization for perimeter lighting, press the select
button while PERIMETER LIGHTING is displayed on the
DIC. Pressing the select button will scroll through the
following choices:
·PERIMETER LIGHTING ON (default)
·PERIMETER LIGHTING OFF
If you choose for perimeter lighting to be on, the
headlamps and back-up lamps will come on for
40 seconds, if it is dark enough outside, when you
unlock the vehicle with the remote keyless entry
transmitter.
Choose one of the two options and press the
personalization button while it is displayed on the DIC to
select it and move on to the next feature.

LOAD CDZ:Press the LOAD side of this button to
load CDs into the compact disc player. This compact
disc player will hold up to six discs.
To insert one disc, do the following:
1. Turn the ignition on.
2. Press and release the LOAD side of the LOAD CD
button.
3. Wait for the light, located to the right of the slot, to
turn green.
4. Load a disc. Insert the disc partway into the slot,
label side up. The player will pull the disc in.
When a disc is inserted, the CD symbol will be
displayed. If you select an equalization setting for your
disc, it will be activated each time you play a disc.
If the radio is on or off, the disc will begin to play
automatically.
To insert multiple discs, do the following:
1. Turn the ignition on.
2. Press and hold the LOAD side of the LOAD CD
button for two seconds.
You will hear a beep and the light, located to the
right of the slot, will begin to ¯ash.3. Once the light stops ¯ashing and turns green, load
a disc. Insert the disc partway into the slot, label
side up. The player will pull the disc in.
Once the disc is loaded, the light will begin ¯ashing
again. Once the light stops ¯ashing and turns
green you can load another disc. The disc player
takes up to six discs. Do not try to load more
than six.
To load more than one disc but less than six, complete
Steps 1 through 3. When you have ®nished loading
discs, with the radio on or off, press the LOAD side of
the LOAD CD button to cancel the loading function. The
radio will begin to play the last CD loaded.
When a disc is inserted, the CD symbol will be
displayed. If more than one disc has been loaded, a
number for each disc will be displayed. If you select an
equalization setting for your disc, it will be activated
each time you play a disc.
If the radio is on or off, the last disc loaded will begin to
play automatically.
As each new track starts to play, the track number will
appear on the display.
