FUEL COCK
The fuel cock supplies fuel from the tank to
carburetor while filtering the fuel. The fuel cock
has the two positions:
OFF:With the lever in this position, fuel will not
flow. Always return the lever to this posi-
tion when the engine is not running.
ON: With the lever in this position, fuel flows
to the carburetor. Normal riding is done
with the lever in this position.

STARTER KNOB (CHOKE)
When cold, the engine requires a richer air-fuel
mixture for starting. A separate starter circuit,
which is controlled by the starter knob 1, sup-
plies this mixture. Pull the starter knob out to
open the circuit for starting. When the engine
has warmed up, push it in to close the circuit.

AIR FILTER CASE COVER
In order to prevent water from entering the car-
buretor while the motorcycle is operated in the
rain, attach the air filter case cover 1 to the
rear frame.
lAir filter case cover installation
1. Set the air filter case cover as shown, and
install it to the seat rail of the rear frame
while rotating air filter case cover in the
direction of the arrow.
2. Using a conventional screwdriver, hold up
the front of the air filter case cover.
Then engage the groove a in the cover
over the air filter case edge b.

Road condition and examples of carburetor setting
NOTE:
Optimum pilot air screw setting can be obtained by adding the ex-factory number of the same screw
back-out turns to any required value provided in the chart.
For example, if the ex-factory number is “2”, add “2” to the value chosen in the chart.

If tan color, it is in good condition.
If cannot be corrected:
Clogged float valve seat
Clogged fuel hose
Clogged fuel cock
At full throttle
Speed pick-up stops
Slow speed pick-up
Slow response
Sooty spark plug
Rich mixtureDecrease main jet calibration no.

*In case of racing slight enrich-
ment of mixture reduces engine
trouble.Discoloration of spark plug ®
If tan color, it is in good condition.
If cannot be corrected:
Clogged air filter
Fuel overflow from carburetor
Lean mixture Use jet needle with a smaller
diameter, or NBLF.
Lower jet needle clip position.
The clip position is the jet needle
groove on which the clip is
installed. The positions are num-
bered from the top. Rich mixture Use jet needle with a larger diam-
eter, or NBKG.
Raise jet needle clip position.
1/4 ~ 3/4 throttle
