8. Install:
Throttle shaft assembly 1
Washer (metal) 2
Washer (resin) 3
Valve lever 4
NOTE:
Apply the fluorochemical grease on the bear-
ings.
Fit the projection a on the throttle shaft
assembly into the slot b in the throttle posi-
tion sensor.
Make sure the stopper c of the spring fits
into the recess in the carburetor.
Turn the throttle shaft assembly left while
holding down the lever 1 5 and fit the throt-
tle stop screw tip d to the stopper e of the
throttle shaft assembly pulley.

passen.
Sicherstellen, daß der Anschlag c
der Feder in die Vertiefung am
Vergaser paßt.
Die Drosselwellen-Baugruppe
nach links drehen, während der
Hebel 1 5 festgehalten wird, und
die Drosselanschlagschrauben-
spitze d an den Anschlag e der
Drosselwellen-Baugruppen-Rie-
menscheibe setzen.

Stößelstange 1
HINWEIS:
Bei eingedrücktem Hebel 1 2 die
Stößelstange so weit wie möglich in
den Vergaser setzen.

Insérer la saillie a de l’axe de
papillon dans la fente b du capteur du

S’assurer que la butée c du ressort
rentre dans l’encoche sur le carbura-
teur.
Tourner l’ensemble de l’axe de
papillon vers la gauche tout en
appuyant sur le levier 1 5 et adapter
l’extrémité de la vis d’arrêt de
papillon d à la butée e de la poulie
d’ensemble d’axe de papillon.
9. Installer:
Tige de commande 1
N.B.:
Tout en appuyant sur le levier 1 2, insé-
rer la tige de commande plus profondé-
ment dans le carburateur.

Accertarsi che il fermo c della molla
alloggi nel vano nel carburatore.
Ruotare il gruppo albero della valvola
a farfalla a sinistra tenendo premuta la
leva 1 5 e far aderire la punta della
vite di arresto della valvola a farfalla
d al fermo e della puleggia del
gruppo albero della valvola a farfalla.
9. Installare:
Asta di punteria 1
NOTA:
Tenendo premuta la leva 1 2, inserire a
fondo l’asta di punteria nel carburatore.

MAP-CONTROLLED CDI UNIT
MAP-CONTROLLED CDI UNIT
A map-controlled, CDI ignition system is used in the YZ250F.
The microcomputer in the CDI unit detects the engine speed and throttle position, thus determining
the optimum ignition timing through the entire operating range. In this way, quick throttle response
can be achieved according to various riding conditions.

Function of Component

Component Function
Throttle position sensor Detects throttle valve opening and inputs it into the computer in the
CDI unit as a throttle opening signal.
Pickup coil Detects signal rotor revolutions and inputs them into the computer in
the CDI unit as engine revolution signals.
CDI unit The signals of the throttle position sensor and pickup coil sensor are
analyzed by the computer in the CDI unit, which then adjusts ignition
timing for the operation requirements.

Principal of 3-Dimensional Control
Conventionally, ignition timing was controlled only
by engine revolutions (2-dimensional control).
However, ignition timing needs advancement also
by engine load. Thus, accurate ignition timing can
be determined by adding throttle opening to deter-
mine ignition timing (3-dimensional control).

Die YZ250F ist mit einer kennfeldgesteuerten CDI-Zündanlage ausgestattet.
Der Mikroprozessor in der CDI-Zündbox ist ständig über die Motordrehzahl und Drosselklappenpo-
sition informiert und kann dadurch den optimalen Zündzeitpunkt im gesamten Lastbereich bestim-
men. Dies sorgt stets für das bestmögliche Ansprechverhalten des Motors.

Funktion der einzelnen Komponenten

Komponente Funktion
Drosselklappensensor
Überwacht die Drosselklappenposition und sendet ein Drosselklap-
penöffnungssignal an den CDI-Zündbox-Mikroprozessor.
Impulsgeber
Überwacht den Impulsgeber-Rotor und sendet ein Motordrehzahlsi-
gnal an den CDI-Zündbox-Mikroprozessor.
CDI-Zündbox Der CDI-Zündbox-Mikroprozessor analysiert die erhaltenen Drossel-
klappenöffnungs- und Motordrehzahlsignale und errechnet daraus
den optimalen Zündzeitpunkt.

Prinzip der Kennfeldsteuerung
In herkömmlichen Zündsystemen wird der Zünd-
zeitpunkt lediglich von der Motordrehzahl bestimmt
(zweidimensionales Prinzip).
Wird jedoch zusätzlich die Motorbelastung (sprich:
Drosselklappenöffnung) berücksichtigt, kann eine
präzisere Zündverstellung erfolgen (dreidimensio-
nales Prinzip).
