2-42Dome Lamps The dome lamps will come on when you open a door
and will slowly dim to off when all doors are closed.
You can also turn the dome lamps on by turning the
thumbwheel, located next to the exterior lamp control,
all the way up. In this position, the dome lamps will
remain on whether a door is opened or closed.
You can use the DOME OVERRIDE button, located
below the exterior lamp control, to set the dome lamps
to come on automatically when a door is opened, or
remain off. To turn the lamps off, press the button into
the in position. With the button in this position, the
dome lamps will remain off when the doors are open. To
return the lamps to automatic operation, press the button
again and return it to the out position. With the button in
this position, the dome lamps will come on when you
open a door.
Battery Run-Down Protection This feature shuts off the dome, reading, glove box and
underhood lamps if they are left on for more than 20
minutes when the ignition is off. This will keep your
battery from running down. Mirrors Electrochromic Inside Rearview Mirror
with Compass and Temperature Display When on, an electrochromic mirror automatically dims
to the proper level to minimize glare from lights behind
you after dark.
The electrochromic mirror will always revert to on when
the vehicle is started.
The mirror also includes a display of both the compass
and the temperature in the upper right corner of the
mirror face. The dual display can be turned on or off by
briefly pressing either the TEMP or COMP button.
2-453. Press the COMP button on the bottom of the mirror
until the new zone number appears in the display.
After you stop pressing the button in, the display will
show a compass direction within a few seconds. Power Outside Rearview Mirrors
The control is located on the driver's door armrest.
Move the upper selector switch to the left or right
to choose the mirror you want to adjust, then press
the arrows located on the lower control pad to adjust
the mirror.
The mirrors include ground illumination lamps (puddle
lamps) in the base of the mirror. For more information
on these lamps, see ªPuddle Lampsº in the Index.
2-46Driver's Outside Auto-Dimming
Rearview Mirror The driver's outside mirror will adjust for the glare of
headlamps behind you. This feature is controlled by the
on and off settings on the electrochromic mirror. See
ªElectrochromic Inside Rearview Mirror with Compass
and Temperature Displayº earlier in this section.
Convex Outside Mirror Your passenger's side mirror is convex. A convex
mirror's surface is curved so you can see more from
the driver's seat.
CAUTION:A convex mirror can make things (like other
vehicles) look farther away than they really are.
If you cut too sharply into the right lane, you
could hit a vehicle on your right. Check your
inside mirror or glance over your shoulder before
changing lanes. Heated Outside Rearview Mirrors The outside rearview mirrors have a defrost mode.
To turn on the defrost feature, press the rear window
defogger button. See ªRear Window Defoggerº in the
Index for further information.
Storage Compartments Glove Box To open your glove box, lift up the latch and pull the
door open.
