Accessory Power Outlets
With the accessory power outlets, you can plug in
auxiliary electrical equipment such as a cellular
telephone or CB radio.
Your vehicle has three accessory power outlets. The first
outlet is located to the right of the cigarette lighter on
the instrument panel. The second outlet is located on the
rear of the center console, and the third one is located in
the rear of the vehicle near the liftgate.
Remove the cover from the outlet to use the outlet.
Be sure to put the cover back on when not using the
accessory power outlet.
Certain electrical accessories may not be compatible
with the accessory power outlet and could result in
blown vehicle or adaptor fuses. If you experience a
problem, see your dealer for additional information
on the accessory power outlets.NOTICE:
Adding some electrical equipment to your vehicle
can damage it or keep other things from working
as they should. This wouldn't be covered by your
warranty. Check with your dealer before adding
electrical equipment, and never use anything that
exceeds the fuse rating.
When adding electrical equipment, be sure to follow
the proper installation instructions included with
the equipment.
NOTICE:
Power outlets are designed for accessory plugs
only. Do not hang any type of accessory or
accessory bracket from the plug. Improper use of
the power outlet can cause damage not covered
by your warranty.

This function will only work during actual emergency
broadcasts, and will not work during tests of the
emergency broadcast system. This feature is not
supported by all RDS stations.
INFO: If the current station has a message, the INFO
icon will appear on the display. These text messages are
from the RDS broadcaster to the listening public and may
be general information such as artist and song title, call in
phone numbers, etc. Press this button to see the message.
If the whole message does not appear on the display,
parts of the message will appear every three seconds until
the message is completed. To scroll through the message
at your own speed, press the INFO button again for
less than one second. A new group of words will appear
on the display. Once the complete message has been
displayed, the INFO icon will disappear from the display
until another new message is received. The old message
can be displayed by pressing the INFO button until a
new message is received or a different station is tuned to.
TRAF: Press this button to receive traffic
announcements. If the current tuned station does not
broadcast traffic announcements, the radio will seek
to a station that does. The TRAF icon will flash on the
display. When the radio finds a station that broadcasts
traffic announcements, it will stop. If no station is found,
NO TRAF will appear on the display.Your radio can be programmed to interrupt the playback
of a cassette tape, CD or FM radio by enabling the
traffic interrupt feature. Press the TRAF button once to
seek to an RDS station that supports the traffic interrupt
feature if the current tuned station does not. The TRAF

When a traffic announcement comes on the tuned radio
station, you will hear it, even if the volume is muted or a
cassette tape or compact disc is playing. The TRAF icon
and TRAFFIC will appear on the display while the
traffic announcement plays. If the cassette tape or
compact disc player was being used, the tape or compact
disc will stay in the player and resume play at the point
where it stopped.

Playing a Cassette Tape
Your tape player is built to work best with tapes that are
up to 30 to 45 minutes long on each side. Tapes longer
than that are so thin they may not work well in this
player. The longer side with the tape visible should face
to the right. If the ignition is on, but the radio is off, the
tape can be inserted and will begin playing. A tape
symbol is shown on the display whenever a tape is
inserted. If you hear nothing but a garbled sound, the
tape may not be in squarely. Press EJT to remove the
tape and start over.

Compact Disc Messages
(Check CD): If this message appears on the
radio display, it could be due to one of the
following conditions:
The road is too rough. The disc should play when
the road is smoother.
The disc is dirty, scratched, wet or upside down.
The air is very humid. If so, wait about an hour
and try again.
If any error occurs repeatedly or if an error can't be
corrected, please contact your dealer. If your radio
displays an error message, write it down and provide it
to your dealer when reporting the problem.Rear Seat Entertainment System
(RSE) (If Equipped)
Your vehicle may have the optional Digital Versatile
Disc (DVD) entertainment system. The entertainment
system includes a DVD player, a video display screen,
two sets of IR wireless headphones, a remote control
and an instructional video disc.
Before You Drive
The video entertainment system is for passengers in
the second and third row seats only. The driver cannot
safely view the video screen while driving and should
not try to do so.
In severe or extreme temperature conditions your
entertainment system should not be operated until the
temperature is within the operating range. This will keep
your video components from being damaged when the
temperature is below
-4F (-20C) or above 140F (60C).
To resume operation, shut off the entertainment system,
pull down the video screen and then heat or cool the vehicle
until the temperature is within the operating range.
3-46 Headphones
The entertainment system includes two
IR wireless headphones.
Mini
-headphone jacks are also provided for use
with customer provided headphones.
The wireless headphones have an ON/OFF switch
and a volume control. To use the headphones turn the
switch to ON. An indicator light will illuminate. If the
light does not illuminate, the batteries may need to be
replaced. See ªBattery Replacementº later in this
section for more information. Switch the headphones
to OFF when not in use.
If the system is shut off, or if the headphones are out
of range of the IR transmitters below the overhead
RSE control panel for more than three minutes,
the headphones will shut off automatically to save the
battery. If you move too far forward or step out of the
vehicle, the headphones will lose the audio signal.
To adjust the volume on both pairs of wired headphones,
use the volume control.
NOTICE:
Do not store the headphones in heat or direct
sunlight. This could damage the headphones
and would not be covered by your warranty.
Keep the headphones stored in a cool, dry place.
Battery Replacement
To change the batteries, do the following:
1. Loosen the screw on the battery compartment
door located on the left side of the headphones.
2. Remove the batteries from the compartment.
3. Replace the two AAA batteries. Make sure that
they are installed correctly.
If the headphones are to be stored for a long period
of time, remove the batteries and keep them in a cool,
dry place.
3-47 Stereo RCA Jacks
The RCA jacks and the mini-headphone jacks are
located behind the video screen on the overhead console.
The RCA jacks allow you to hook up an auxiliary device
such as a camcorder or a video game unit. The yellow
RCA jack is used for video and the red and white RCA
jacks are used for audio. You may require adapter
connectors or cables to connect your auxiliary device to
the RCA jacks. Refer to the manufacturer's instructions
for proper usage. The mini
-headphone jacks allow you
to hook up customer provided wired headphones.
To use the auxiliary audio and video inputs on the RSE,
connect an external auxiliary device such as a camcorder
to the RCA jacks and turn on both the auxiliary device
power and the power on the front of the RSE player.
If a disc is not present in the player, the auxiliary signal
will immediately be displayed on the RSE. If a disc is
present when the RSE power is turned on, the player will
automatically begin playing the disc and the user will need
to press the AUX button on the remote control to display
and/or hear the auxiliary input signals. Each successive
press of the AUX button on the remote control will switch
the system between disc and auxiliary input. The wired
headphone volume control will only operate when the
DVD player power is turned on and it controls both wired
headphone jacks at the same time. See ªRemote Controlº
later in this section for more information.
Audio Speakers
Audio from the DVD player can only be heard either
through the IR headphones or wired headphones
(not included). The sound will not come through the
vehicle's speakers.
Video Screen
The video screen is located in the overhead console.
3-49
The entertainment system is only compatible with
Region 1 DVDs authorized for use in the United States,
Canada, Puerto Rico, Bermuda, the Virgin Islands
and some islands in the Pacific. On some DVD jackets,
you will see the region displayed. Regular audio CDs
can also be played by the DVD player. The video
screen will default to off when an audio CD is played.
Home recorded CDs (CDRs) will not play in this
DVD player. Try the audio system's CD player instead.
If an error message appears on the front instrument
panel display, see ªDVD Messagesº later in this section.
