Energy Management Feature
²This vehicle has a seat belt system with an energy management
feature at the driver and front passenger seating positions and second
row bench seat belt assemblies adjacent to a sliding door to help
further reduce the risk of injury in the event of a head-on collision.
²This seat belt system has a retractor assembly that is designed to pay
out webbing in a controlled manner. This feature is designed to help
reduce the belt force acting on the occupant's chest.
Failure to replace the Belt and Retractor assembly after an
accident could increase the risk of injury in a collision.
Safety belt height adjustment
Your vehicle has safety belt height
adjustments for the driver, front
passenger and second row
passengers. Adjust the height of the
shoulder belt so the belt rests
across the middle of your shoulder.
To lower the shoulder belt height,
push the button and slide the height
adjuster down. To raise the height
of the shoulder belt, push the
button and slide the height adjuster
up. Pull down on the height adjuster
to make sure it is locked in place.
Position the shoulder belt

belt rests across the middle of
your shoulder. Failure to adjust
the safety belt properly could
reduce the effectiveness of the
seat belt and increase the risk of
injury in a collision.

5. Push down on the child seat while pulling on the loose end of the lap
belt webbing to tighten the belt.
6. Before placing the child into the child seat, forcibly tilt the child seat
from side to side and in forward direction to make sure that the seat is
held securely in place. If the child seat moves excessively, repeat steps 5
through 6, or properly install the child seat in a different position.
Attaching child safety seats with tether straps
Most new forward-facing child safety seats include a tether strap which
goes over the back of the seat and hooks to an anchoring point. Tether
straps are available as an accessory for many older safety seats. Contact
the manufacturer of your child seat for information about ordering a
tether strap.
Children should be placed in the rear in an appropriate child
safety seat that is properly secured to the vehicle.

The tether can be attached directly to the rear of all passenger seating
except the front passenger seat
equipped with power adjustment. The front passenger seat with manual
adjustment does have a tether anchor.
