Passenger Compartment Air Filter
(If Equipped)
If your vehicle has this feature, the outside air entering
the vehicle is routed through a filter. The filter removes
certain particles from the air, including pollen and dust
particles. Reductions in airflow, which may occur more
often in dusty areas, indicate that the filter may need
to be replaced early.
The filter should be replaced as part of the routine
scheduled maintenance. See ªMaintenance Scheduleº
in the Index for more information.
The passenger compartment
air filter is located on the
passenger side at the base
of the windshield and
can be accessed through
a removable panel under
the hood of the vehicle. To check or replace the air filter:
1. With the hood open, unlatch and remove the
access panel.
2. To remove the filter, press on the spring tab on
the side of the filter housing and pull the filter out
of the housing.
3. To install the new filter, press on the spring tab and
insert the filter into the housing. The filter should be
fully inserted into the upper and lower grooves and
locked into place by the spring tab.
4. Reinstall the air filter access panel at the base of
the windshield.

To get the right reading, the fluid should be at normal
operating temperature, which is 180F to 200F
(82C to 93C).
Get the vehicle warmed up by driving about 15 miles
(24 km) when outside temperatures are above 50F
(10C). If it's colder than 50F (10C), you may
have to drive longer.
Checking the Fluid Level
Prepare your vehicle as follows:
Park your vehicle on a level place. Keep the
engine running.
With the parking brake applied, place the shift lever
in PARK (P).
With your foot on the brake pedal, move the shift
lever through each gear range, pausing for about
three seconds in each range. Then, position the
shift lever in PARK (P).
Let the engine run at idle for three to five minutes. Then, without shutting off the engine, follow these steps:
The transaxle fluid dipstick
top is a round, red loop and
is located next to the brake
master cylinder behind the
engine block. See ªEngine
Compartment Overviewº
in the Index for more
information on location.
1. Pull out the dipstick and wipe it with a clean rag or
paper towel.

Your vehicle has a visual optical headlamp aiming
system equipped with horizontal aim indicators.
The aim has been preset at the factory and should
need no further adjustment. This is true even though
your horizontal aim indicators may not fall exactly on the
ª0º (zero) marks on their scales.

Windshield Wiper Blade Replacement
Windshield wiper blades should be inspected at least
twice a year for wear or cracking. See ªWiper Blade
Checkº in the Index for more information.
Replacement blades come in different types and are
removed in different ways.
To replace the wiper blade assembly, do the following:
1. Lift the windshield wiper arm away from
the windshield.
2. Push the tab on the wiper blade assembly and pull
the assembly down enough to release it from the ªUº
hooked end of the wiper arm. Slide the assembly
away from the arm.
3. Remove the blade.
4. To reinstall the wiper blade assembly, slide it over
the wiper arm to engage the ªUº hooked end on
the wiper blade assembly. Pull up on the assembly
