The normal operation of the ABS may make itself felt by slight vibra-tions of the brake pedal. In emergency braking, press very firmly without releasing thepressure.
THE ABS ANTI-LOCK BRAKING SYSTEM
The ABS system with Electronic Brake Force Distribution (EBFD) increasesthe stability and manoeuvrabilty ofyour vehicle, particularly on poor orslippery road surfaces. Note:
when replacing wheels (tyres
and rims), ensure that they are approved. The anti-lock braking system comes into operation automatically whenthere is a risk of wheel lock.
Lighting of this warninglamp, accompanied by anaudible signal and the mes-sage "Braking fault" on the
multifunction display, indicates a mal-function of the electronic brake forcedistribution which could result in loss ofcontrol of the vehicle when braking.
Stop immediately.

HANDBRAKE Applying When parking, pull the handbrake to immobilise your vehicle. Releasing Pull the handle and press the button to release the handbrake.
Illumination of this warninglight and of the STOPwarning
light, accompanied by anaudible signal (at 10 km/h)
and the message "handbrake on"on
the multifunction display, indicates thatthe handbrake is still applied or has
not been released fully. EMERGENCY BRAKING
ASSISTANCE SYSTEM
In an emergency, this system enables the optimum braking pressure to be
reached more quickly, thus reducingthe stopping distance. It is triggered by the speed at which
the brake pedal is activated. The effectof this is a reduction in the resistanceof the pedal and an increase in braking
efficiency.

PUNCTURES Because this version does not pos- sess a spare wheel, you have twoaerosols for temporary tyre repairsstored in an insulated storage box

secured by a strap to the right-handside of the boot. Using a repair aerosol (See also the instructions on the aerosols). 
If possible remove the foreign body which caused the puncture.
 Position the wheel so that the valveis at the 2 o'clock or 10 o'clock posi-tion.
 Shake the aerosol vigorously
before use. (In very cold weather,warm the aerosol for a few minutesin your hands).
 In one hand hold the valve.
 With the other, firmly push thespray end of the aerosol onto thevalve, keeping it centralised.
 Maintain the pressure firmly for oneminute, then immediately drive at
moderate speed to the nearest
garage. Aersosols enable a tempo-rary repair to be carried out(maximum speed 50 mph(80 km/h)).
After use, it is necessary to repairthe tyre. Because the aerosols are pres- surised, they must not be exposed
to a temperature higher than 50 ¡C. Keep them away from heat in their insulated storage box.

TOWING A TRAILER,
CARAVAN, BOAT etc.
Only use original PEUGEOT tow bars that have been tested andapproved from the design stage of
your vehicle. The tow bar must be fit-
ted by a PEUGEOT dealer. The tow bar must be fitted by a
PEUGEOT dealer.
Your vehicle is basically designed for transporting people and luggage but it
may also be used for towing a trailer. Driving with a trailer subjects the towing vehicle to more significant stress and itsdriver must be particularly careful. Air density decreases with altitude, thus
reducing engine performance. Above
1 000 metres, the maximum towing load
must be reduced by 10 % for every
1 000 metres of altitude. Driving advice Distribution of loads:
Distribute the
load in the trailer so that the heaviest items are as close as possible to the axleand the nose weight approaches themaximum permitted without exceeding it. Cooling: Towing a trailer on a slope
increases the temperature of the coolant. As the fan is electrically controlled, its cooling capacity is not dependent onthe engine speed.
On the contrary, use a high gear to lower the engine speed, and reduceyour speed. The maximum towing load on a long slope depends on the gradient and theoutside temperature. In all cases, pay attention to the coolant temperature. If the warning light comes on, stop the
vehicle and switch off the engine assoon as possible. Tyres:
Check the tyre pressures of the
towing vehicle and of the trailer,observing the recommended pres-sures. Braking: Towing increases the brak-
ing distance. Lights: Check the electrical signalling
on the trailer.Side wind: Take into acount the
increased sensitivity to side wind.
