Make sure the differential gear oil is at the

Throttle lever
Check to see that the throttle lever operates
correctly. It must open smoothly and spring
back to idle position when released. Repair as
necessary for proper operation.

If the engine fails to start, release the start

Brake fluid replacement:
1. When disassembling the master cylinder or caliper cylinder, replace the brake fluid. Normally
check the brake fluid level and add fluid as required.
2. On the inner parts of the master cylinder and caliper cylinder, replace the oil seals every two
years.
3. Replace the brake hoses every four years, or if cracked or damaged.
V-belt*
• Check operation.
• Check for cracks or damage every 12 months or
2,400 km whichever comes first.
Wheels*
• Check balance/damage/runout.
• Repair if necessary.
Wheel bearing*
• Check bearing assemblies for looseness/damage.

Engine oil
Oil level inspection
1. Place the machine on a level place and
warm up the engine for several minutes.
2. Stop the engine.
3. Remove the dipstick and wipe it off with a
clean rag. Insert the dipstick in the filler
hole without screwing it in.NOTE:Wait a few minutes until the oil level settles be-fore checking.
4. The oil level should be between the maxi-
mum and minimum marks. If the level is
low, fill the engine with sufficient oil to
reach the specified level.

Engine oil and oil filter cartridge replacement
1. Remove panels E and F. (See pages 8-27 ~
8-29 for removal and installation proce-
dures.)
2. Warm up the engine for several minutes.
3. Stop the engine. Place an oil pan under
the engine and remove the dipstick.
4. Remove the drain bolt and drain the oil.

5. Remove the oil filter by using an oil filter
wrench.NOTE:An oil filter wrench is available at a nearbyYamaha dealer.

7. Apply a light coat of engine oil to the
O-ring of the new oil filter.NOTE:Make sure the O-ring is seated properly.
8. Install the oil filter and tighten it to the
specified torque with an oil filter wrench.
