You may stop the moon roof at any de-
sired position. The roof will move while
the switch is being pushed and stop when
released except to slide open.
CAUTION
To avoid serious personal injury, you
must do the following.
While the vehicle is moving, always
keep the heads, hands and other
parts of the bodies of all occupants
away from the roof opening. Other-
wise, they could be seriously in-
jured if the vehicle stops suddenly
or if the vehicle is involved in an
accident.
Always make sure nobody places
his/her head, hands and other parts
of the body in the roof opening be-
fore you close the roof. If some-
one's neck, head or hands gets
caught in the closing roof, it could
result in a serious injury. When
anyone close the roof, first make
sure it is safe to do so.
Never leave small children alone in
the vehicle, especially with the igni-
tion key still inserted. They could
use the moon roof switches and get
trapped in the roof opening. Unat-
tended children can be involved in
serious accidents.
Never sit on top of the vehicle
around the roof opening.
NOTICE
Do not touch the plastic resin moon
roof with anything hard or sharp.
The roof is damaged more easily
than ordinary glass.
When washing the plastic resin

tral detergent. Do not use wax, win-
dow cleaner or abrasive clean-
erÐthese may damage the plastic
resin moon roof. (See ªWashing and
waxing your Toyotaº on page 203 in
Section 5.)
Do not use organic substances
(gasoline, kerosene, benzine or
strong solvents), which may toxic
or cause damage.

(c) Behind the front seats
(removing rear seats)
3. Remove the rear seats and hook the
claw of the strap over the front
hinge of the rear seat as shown
above. (See ªÐRemoving rear seatsº
on page 35 in Section 1±3.)
4. Pull the end of the belt to stretch
the net securely.
Make sure the net does not interfere
with a reclined seatback or head re-
straint.
CAUTION
When not using the separation net,
make sure that cover of the fixing
hook is closed. If the cover is open,
it might cause the unexpected injury
like hitting a head.

loosen the crossrails.
2. Slide the crossrails to the desired posi-

CAUTION
When you load cargo on the roof lug-
gage carrier, observe the following:
Place the cargo so that its weight
is distributed evenly between the
front and rear axles.
If loading long or wide cargo, never
exceed the vehicle overall length or
width. (See ªDimensions and
weightº on page 246 in Section 8
for information on your vehicle
overall length and width.)
Before driving, make sure the cargo
is securely fastened on the roof
luggage carrier.
Loading cargo on the roof luggage
carrier will make the center of the
vehicle gravity higher. Avoid high
speeds, sudden starts, sharp turns,
sudden braking or abrupt maneu-
vers, otherwise it may result in loss
of control or vehicle rollover due to
failure to operate this vehicle cor-
rectly.
If driving for a long distance, on
rough roads, or at high speeds,
stop the vehicle now and then dur-
ing the trip to make sure the cargo
remains in its place.
Do not exceed 34 kg (75 lb.) cargo
weight on the roof rails.
NOTICE
When loading the luggages, be careful
not to scratch the surface of the
moon roof.
Floor mat
Use a floor mat of the correct size.
If the floor carpet and floor mat have a
hole, then it is designed for use with a
locking clip. Fix the floor mat with locking
clip into the hole in the floor carpet.
