If towing is necessary, we recommend
you to have it done by your Toyota
dealer or a commercial tow truck ser-
vice.
If a towing service is not available in
an emergency, your vehicle may be
temporarily towed by a cable or chain
secured to either the emergency towing
eyelet
∗ on the front of the vehicle or
the right emergency towing eyelet∗ on
the rear of the vehicle. Use extreme
caution when towing vehicles.
NOTICE
Only use specified towing eyelet;
otherwise your vehicle may be dam-
aged.
A driver must be in the vehicle to steer
it and operate the brakes.
Towing in this manner may be done only
on hard−surfaced roads for a short dis-
tance and at low speeds. Also, the
wheels, axles, drive train, steering and
brakes must all be in good condition.
∗: Eyelet
The eyelet is stored in the luggage space
with the jack handle.
To install: Remove the cover of eyelet and
firmly install it as shown in the illustration.

Make sure the coolant level is between
the FULL" and LOW" lines on the see−

See page 191 in Section 7−2 for addition-
al information.
