FM/AM selection button (FM/AM)
Push the “FM/AM ” b utton 3 when the rad io is on to selec t FM1, FM2
or AM rec ep tion. Eac h time this b utton is p ressed , the b and will
c hang e in the following ord er:
FM1 FM2 AM
The d isp lay ind ic ates whic h one is c urrently selec t ed .
Stereo indicator
The stereo ind ic ator “ST ” will c ome on when an FM stereo b road c ast
is rec eived . Manual tuning (TUNING)
Press the tuning b utton 1 marked “ ” to inc rease the tuning freq uen-
c y and p ress the tuning b utton marked “ ” to d ec rease it.
Eac h time the b utton is p ressed , the freq uenc y c han g es 10 kHz in the
AM mod e and 0.2 MHz in the FM mod e.
Constant p ressure on the b utton c auses a c ontinuous c hang e in the
freq uenc y. Automatic tuning (SCAN)
Press the “SCAN ” b utton
2 to c hang e the rad io to the SCAN mod e. In
this mod e, the rad io sc ans throug h the rad io b and u ntil a station is
found . The rad io will stop at the station for five sec ond s while d isp lay-
ing the freq uenc y, after whic h sc anning will c ontin ue until the entire
b and has b een sc anned from the low end to the hig h end .
Press the “SCAN ” b utton ag ain to c anc el the SCAN mod e and to stop
on any d isp layed freq uenc y.
When the “SCAN ” b utton is p ressed for automatic tuning , stations a re
sc anned in the d irec tion of low freq uenc ies to hig h freq uenc ies only.
Automatic tuning may not func tion p rop erly if the s tation rec ep tion is
weakened b y d istanc e from the station or p roximity to tall b uild ing s
and hills.

NOTE Only use good quality cassettes (cassettes longer than C-90 are
not recommended). Put cassettes back in their boxes immediately after use to protect
them from dust and dirt and to prevent the tape from unwinding. Never expose cassettes to heat, direct sunlight or moisture.
Clean the tape head (once or twice a month) using a wet-type
cleaning cassette .
Cassette slot
Insert a c assette with the exp osed tap e sid e fac ing to the rig ht. After

Scan tuning (SCAN)
Turn the tuning d ial inner tuner to c hang e the rad i o to the SCAN
mod e. In this mod e, the rad io sc ans throug h the rad io b and until a
station is found . The rad io will stop at the statio n for five sec ond s
while d isp laying the freq uenc y, after whic h sc annin g will c ontinue until
the entire b and has b een sc anned .
Turn the tuning d ial ’s inner tuner ag ain to c anc el the SCAN mod e and
to stop on any d isp layed freq uenc y.
Sc an tuning may not func tion p rop erly if the statio n rec ep tion is weak-
ened b y d istanc e from the station or p roximity to t all b uild ing s and
hills. Preset tuning
Press any one of the p reset b uttons to selec t the c orresp ond ing , p re-
viously-reg istered rad io station. The LED at the to p of that b utton will
turn on. n Manual preset
Use the tuning d ial to selec t the rad io station whi c h you wish to
reg ister. Choose the p reset b utton to whic h you wish to assig n that station
and p ress it c ontinuously for a p eriod of more than 2 sec ond s. When
the rad io station has b een suc c essfully reg istered , the d isp lay will
flash the c orresp ond ing rad io freq uenc y on and off onc e.
NOTE Each preset button can be used to store both an FM station
and an AM station. If the power supply is interrupted by disconnection of the bat-
tery, memory presets will be cleared and will be required to be re-input. Weather band button (WB)
Push the “WB ” b utton when the rad io is off to turn on the rad io in the
weather b and .
Press the “WB ” b utton when the rad io is on to selec t the weather
b and .

Program button (PROG)
If a c assette is c urrently b eing p layed , the PROG b utton c an b e
p ressed to switc h from the A-sid e to the B-sid e or vic e-versa.
Fast-forward button (FF)
To fast-forward the tap e, p ress the “FF ” b utton. To stop fast-forward -
ing , lig htly p ress the “PLAY ” b utton.
If the “FF ” b utton is p ressed twic e suc c essively d uring p layb a c k, the
p layer will fast-forward the tap e to the end of the c urrent song and
resume the p layb ac k from the b eg inning of the next song .
Rewind button (REW)
To rewind the tap e, p ress the “REW ” b utton. To stop rewind ing , lig htly
p ress the “PLAY ” b utton.
If the “REW ” b utton is p ressed twic e suc c essively d uring p layb a c k,
the p layer will rewind the tap e up to the b eg inning of the c urrent song
and resume the p layb ac k from its b eg inning . Repeat button (RPT)
If the RPT b utton is p ressed while a song on a c ass ette tap e is b eing
p layed , the c assette p layer will then b eg in to p lay that song rep eated -
ly. Press the RPT b utton onc e ag ain to return to no rmal p layb ac k.
Dolby B NR button (B NR)
Press “B NR ” b utton when p laying tap es rec ord ed using the Dolb y
NR system*. Hig h-freq uenc y noise on the tap e will b e red uc ed for
c learer sound rep rod uc tion.
