Easy-entry / exit feature
The switch is located on the steering column adjustment
lever.
Turn the switch in direction:
1to switch on
2to switch offWith the easy-entry/exit feature activated, the steering
wheel tilts upwards to allow easier entry into and exit
from the vehicle when the driver’s door is opened.
However, the engine must be turned off.
When the electronic key is inserted in the starter switch
or, with a valid KEYLESS-GO-card, when pressing the
start- / stop button on the gear selector lever, and if the
driver’s door is closed, the steering wheel returns to the
last position set for it.
Wa r n i n g !
You must ensure that no one can become trapped
or injured by the moving steering wheel when the
easy-entry / exit feature is in operation and you
open the driver’s door or remove the electronic key
from the starter switch. Do not leave children
unattended in the vehicle, or with access to an
unlocked vehicle. Unsupervised use of vehicle
equipment may cause serious personal injury.

To adjust the steering wheel position, turn the electronic
key in starter switch to position 1 or 2. With the driver’s
door open, the steering wheel can also be operated with
the electronic key removed or in starter switch
position 0. However any adjustment will be cancelled
and the steering wheel will return to it’s position stored
in memory if the driver’s door is closed or the electronic
key is inserted in the starter switch.The stalk is located on the steering column.
1Steering column, lengthen or shorten column
Move the stalk to the front or rear.
2Steering column, height
Move the stalk up or down.
Note:
The steering wheel adjustment can be stored together
with the seat and mirror adjustment.
See page 111 for notes on the memory function.

Do not adjust the steering wheel while driving.
Adjusting the steering wheel while driving could
cause the driver to lose the control of the vehicle.When leaving the vehicle always remove the
electronic key from the starter switch, and take the
KEYLESS-GO-card (if so equipped) with you. The steering wheel adjustment feature can also be
operated with the driver’s door open. Do not leave
children unattended in the vehicle, or with access
to an unlocked vehicle. Unsupervised use of vehicle
equipment may cause serious personal injury.

Pressing buttonæ orç on the multifunction
steering wheel controls the selection marker.
4“TEMP. INDICATOR” – the unit set is displayed in
the outside temperature display, in the instrument
cluster and in the automatic air conditioner display.

Press the è or ÿ button repeatedly until the
individual setting preliminary display (1) appears.
Press the j or k button until the setting menu
“SETTINGS” (2) is displayed.Press buttonæ orç until the menu
“INSTRUMENT CLUSTER” is selected by the selection
marker (3).
Press the j or k button until the required
display (4 to 6) is displayed. Pressing the æ orç
button controls the selection marker. The settings made
are stored and applied immediately.
The individual setting preliminary display (1) will
appear again after you have run through all the setting
menus. Pressing the è or ÿ button displays the
next or previous system.
To return menu “INSTRUMENT CLUSTER” (4 to 6) to
its factory setting:
•Call up menu (4 to 6).
•Press the Jbutton in the instrument cluster for
approximately 3 seconds. Display (7) will appear.
•Press the Jbutton once more. The menu
“INSTR. CLUSTER” is reset to factory settings,
acknowledged by display (8).
The individual setting display “SETTINGS” (2) will
appear if you do not press the Jbutton within
about 5 seconds. The setting menus will not be
reset.

Important!
The initial activation of the Tele Aid system may only be
performed by completing the subscriber agreement and
placing an acquaintance call using the “SOS” button.
Failure to complete either of these steps will result in a
system that is not activated. If the system is not
activated the indicator lamp in the “SOS” button stays
on after turning electronic key in starter switch to
position 2 (vehicles with KEYLESS-GO:
operating position, see page 228) and the message
“TELE AID – NOT ACTIVATED” will be shown in the
multifunction display for approx. 10 seconds.

The Tele Aid system consists of three types of response;
automatic and manual emergency, roadside assistance
and information.
The Tele Aid system is operational providing that the
vehicle’s battery is charged, properly connected, not
damaged and cellular and GPS coverage is available.The speaker volume of a Tele Aid call can be adjusted
when using the volume control on the multifunction
steering wheel, for raising press buttonæand for
lowering press buttonç.
To activate, press the “SOS” button, the Roadside
Assistance button• or the Information button¡,
depending on the type of response required.
Shortly after the completion of your Acquaintance Call,
you will receive a user ID and password via first call
mail. By visiting www.mbusa.com and selecting
“Tele Aid” (USA only), you will have access to account
information, remote door unlock, Info Services
* profile
and more.
* Optional System self-check
Initially, after turning the electronic key in starter
switch to position 2, malfunctions are detected and
indicated (the indicator lamps in the “SOS” button, the
Roadside Assistance button• and the Information
button¡ stay on longer than 10 seconds or do not
come on). The message “TELE AID – VISIT
WORKSHOP” appears for approx. 10 seconds in the
multifunction display.
