Climate Control System
Recirculation Button
This button controls the source of the air going into the system. When
the indicator above this button is lit, air from the car's interior is sent
through the system again (Recircula-
tion mode). When the indicator is off, air is brought in from outside the car
(Fresh Air mode).
You can, for example, manually put the system in recirculation mode
when driving through an area of smoke or fumes.
Fan Control Dial
You can manually select the fan speed by turning the fan control dial.
When you turn the dial clockwise, the fan is taken out of automatic
mode and starts to run at its lowestspeed. Turning the dial fully
clockwise increases the fan's speed,
which increases air flow. MODE BUTTON

Use the MODE button to select the
vents the air flows from. Some air
will flow from the dashboard corner
vents in all modes. Each time you press the MODE button, the displayshows the mode selected. Press the
button four times to see all the
modes.

Audio System
You can use any of five methods tofind radio stations on the selected
band: TUNE, SEEK, SCAN, AUTOSELECT, and the Preset buttons.
TUNE — Use the TUNE knob to tune the radio to a desired frequency.
Turn the knob clockwise to tune to a higher frequency, or
counterclockwise to tune to a lower
frequency.
To change the frequency rapidly, press and hold the top or bottom of
the SEEK bar. Release the bar when
the display reaches the desiredfrequency. Depending on which partof the bar you press, the systemscans upward or downward from the
current frequency. SEEK — The SEEK function
searches the band for a station with
a strong signal. To activate it, press and release the top or bottom of the
SEEK bar. Depending on which part of the bar you press, the system
scans upward or downward from the
current frequency. It stops when it
finds a station with a strong signal. SCAN — The SCAN function
samples all the stations with strong
signals on the selected band. To
activate it, press the SCAN button,
then release it. The system will scan up the band for a station with astrong signal. When it finds one, it
will stop and play that station for approximately five seconds. If you do
nothing, the system will then scan
for the next strong station and play
that for five seconds. When it plays a station that you want to continue
listening to, press the SCAN button
again.

Cooling System
1. Make sure the engine and radiator
are cool.
2. Turn the radiator cap counter- clockwise, without pressing down
on it, until it stops. This relieves
any pressure remaining in the
cooling system.
3. Remove the radiator cap by
pushing down and turning
counterclockwise.
4. The coolant level should be up to the base of the filler neck. Add
coolant if it is low.
5. Put the radiator cap back on. Tighten it fully.

Removing the radiator cap
while the engine is hot can cause the coolant to spray out,
seriously scalding you.
Always let the engine and radiator cool down before
removing the radiator cap.

Cooling System
1. Open the hood. Make sure the engine and radiator are cool to the
touch.
Except EX- V6 model
Turn the ignition ON (II). Turn the temperature control Dial all
the way clockwise. Turn off theignition and remove the key.
EX-V6 model
Turn the ignition ON (II). Turn the temperature control dial to90°F (32° C). Turn off the ignition
and remove the key.
2. Remove the radiator cap.

3. Loosen the drain plug on the bottom of the radiator. Thecoolant will drain through the
splash guard. Remove the drain
bolt and washer from the engine
block.

Spark Plugs (6-cylinder Models)
The spark plugs in your car should be replaced according to the timeand distance recommendations in
the maintenance schedule.
1. Loosen the two holding clips by turning the heads one-quarter turncounterclockwise with a flat-tippedscrewdriver. Remove the cover on
the front cylinder bank by pulling
it straight up. 2. Clean up any dirt and oil that have
collected around the ignition coils.
3. Disconnect the wire connector from the ignition coil by pushingon the lock tab and pulling on the
connector. Pull on the plastic connector, not the wires. 4. Use a wrench to remove the
hexagon socket head cap boltholding the ignition coil. Remove
the ignition coil by pulling it straight out.
5. Remove the spark plug with a five-eighths inch (16 mm) spark
plug socket.

6. Put the new spark plug into the socket; then screw it into the hole.
Screw it in by hand so you do not
crossthread it.
7. Torque the spark plug. (If you do not have a torque wrench, tighten
the spark plug two-thirds of a turn after it contacts the cylinder head.)
Tightening torque:

Tighten the spark plugs carefully. A
spark plug that is too loose can overheat and damage the engine.Overtightening can cause damage to
the threads in the cylinder head.
8. Install the ignition coil. Reinstall the hexagon socket head cap bolt. 9. Push the wire connector onto the
ignition coil. Make sure it locks in
place.
10. Repeat this procedure for the other five spark plugs.
11. Reinstall the cover on the front cylinder bank while putting its
mounting clip in the hole on the
passenger's side. Secure the cover
by turning the heads of the two holding clips one-quarter turn clockwise with a flat-tipped
screwdriver.

Headlight Aiming
The headlights were properly aimed when your car was new. If youregularly carry heavy items in the
trunk, readjustment may be required.
Adjustment of the headlights should be performed by a Honda technicianor other qualified mechanic.
Replacing a Headlight Bulb
Your car has two bulbs on each side, four in total. Make sure you arereplacing the bulb that is burned out.
Your car uses halogen headlight bulbs. When replacing a bulb, handleit by its plastic case and protect the
glass from contact with your skin or
hard objects. If you touch the glass,clean it with denatured alcohol and a
clean cloth.
BULB
1. Open the hood. If you need to change a bulb on
the passenger's side (on the driver's side on 6-cylinder models),
remove the radiator reserve tank.
2. Remove the electrical connector from the bulb by squeezing theconnector to unlock the tab, thenslide the connector off the bulb. 3. Remove the bulb by turning it
approximately one-quarter turn
counterclockwise.
4. Insert the new bulb into the hole and turn it one-quarter turn clock-
wise to lock it in place.
5. Push the electrical connector back onto the bulb. Make sure it is on
all the way.
6. Turn on the headlights to test the new bulb.
7. (Passenger's side on 4-cylinder models, driver's side on 6-cylindermodels)
Reinstall the radiator reserve tank.
Halogen headlight bulbs get very hot when lit. Oil, perspiration, or a scratch
on the glass can cause the bulb to
overheat and shatter.

Replacing Front Turn Signal and Side Marker Light Bulbs
HOLDING CLIP
1. If you are changing the bulb on the driver's side, start the engine,
turn the steering wheel all the wayto the right, and turn off the
engine. If you are changing the
bulb on the passenger's side, turn the steering wheel to the left. 2. Use a flat-tipped screwdriver to
remove the holding clip from the
inner fender.
3. Pull the inner fender cover away from the fender and bumper.
4. Remove the socket from the headlight assembly by turning itone-quarter turn counterclockwise. 5. Remove the burned out bulb from
the socket by pushing it in and
turning counterclockwise until it
unlocks.
6. Install the new bulb in the socket. Turn it clockwise to lock it in place.
7. Insert the socket back into the headlight assembly. Turn itclockwise to lock it in place.
8. Test the lights to make sure the new bulb is working.
9. Put the inner fender cover in place. Install the holding clip. Lock it in
place by pushing on the center.
Maintenance
