This signals the ECM/PCM when the power steering load is high.
'97 model:
*: Do not hold the steering wheel at tulllock for more than five seconds,

Check for an open in the wire {PSPSYV line):1. Turn the ignition switch ON (ll).2. Measure voltage betweenPCN4 connector terminals C16and A9.
Check tor an open in lhe wire (PSPSW linel:1. Turn the ignition switch OFF.2. Disconnect the PSP switch 2Pconnecror,3. Turn the ignition switch ON (ll).4. At the harness side, connectthe PSP switch 2P connectorterminals No. 1 and No. 2with a jumper wire.5, Measute voltage betweenPCM connector terminals C16and A9.

The fuel filter should be replaced whenever the fuel Dres-sure drops below the specified value* with the fuel pres-
sure regulator vacuum hose disconnected and pinchedl
after making sure that the fuel pump and the fuel pres-
sure regulator are OK.

1, Place a shop towel under and around the fuel filter.
2. Relieve fuel pressure (see page l1-l7B).
3. Remove the engine wire harness bracket and power
steering feed hose clamp.
4. Remove the banjo bolt and the fuel feed pipe whilesupporting the fuel filter with another wrench. assnown.
Remove the fuelfilter clamp and fuel filter,
Install the new fuel filter in the reverse orde. ofremoval, and note these items:
. When assembling, use new washers as shown.. Clean the flared joint of high pressure nosesthoroughly before reconnecting them.

Transmission AssemblY
Removal
@FMak. sw. iack" and safety stands are placed propel-
ly, and hoist brackets are attached to collect position
on the engine,
. Apply parking brake and block rear wheels so vehicle
will not roll off stands and lall on you while working
under it.
CAUTION: Use fender covers to avoid damaging painted
surfaces.
1. Disconnect the negative {-) cable first, then the pos-
itive (+) cable from the batterY.
2. Remove the intake air duct and air cleaner houslng
(see section 5).
3. Remove the slave cylinder and clutch hose bracket'
NOTE:
. Do not operate the clutch pedal once lhe slave
cvlinder has been removed.
. Take care not to bend the clutch line.
4. Disconnect the
ground cable.

Disconnect the back-up light switch connector and
wire harness clamP.

REAR MOUNT
20. Remove the rear mount bracket and rear mount.
12 x 1.25 mmReplace.
REAR MOUNT BRACKET12 x 1.25 mmReplace.

Place a jack under the engine block in the area
shown,

22. Jack up the engine and tilt the engine back until the
transfer assembly is lowered approximately 40 mm
(1.57 in).
Note these items when tilting the engine:
. Check that the wire harnesses, hoses and pipes
are not caught by any surrounding parts.
. Do not tilt the engine more than necessary.
ASSEMBLY
Remove the stiffener olate.
NOTE: Some stiffener plate mounting bolts a.e also
used as gearbox mounting bolts. The gearbox will
tilt to the side when these bolts are removed.
