brush the webbing, wipe it with a cloth
and allow it to dry in the shade. Do not
allow the shoulder harnesses to retract
until they are completely dry.
cThe integrated child safety seats cloth
removable pads may be cleaned with
mild soap and water. The cloth remov-
able pads are attached to the seats with
fastener strips, and may be easily re-
moved. The pads are machine washable.
Follow the instructions attached to the
cloth removable pads.
CAUTION
Failure to follow the washing instruc-
tions provided on the cloth removable
pads may result in premature wear or
damage.
cPeriodically inspect the belt and metal
components of the integrated child safety
seats, such as the buckles, tongues,
shoulder harness webbings, and latching
indicators. Periodically check the func-
tion of the integrated child safety seat
shoulder harness retractor functions. If
loose parts, deterioration, cuts, frays,
malfunctions or other damage to the beltwebbings or metal parts are found, see
your NISSAN dealer for repairs.
Inspection After An Accident
If your vehicle was involved in an accident,
before using the integrated child safety
seats, all related components should be
inspected by a NISSAN dealer for damage.
Damage to the integrated child safety seats
or related components must be repaired.
Push the lock lever down and adjust the
steering wheel up or down to the desired
position. Pull the lock lever up firmly to lock
the steering wheel in place.
Gently pull down on the wheel to be sure it
is properly locked.

CAUTION
Do not park the vehicle over flammable
materials such as dry grass, waste pa-
per or rags, as they may burn easily.
1. Firmly apply the parking brake.
2. Move the gearshift lever to the P (Park)
position.CAUTION
Safe parking procedures require that
both the parking brake be set and the
transmission placed into P (Park)
position. Make sure the shift lever has
been pushed up as far as it can go and
cannot be moved without pulling it to-
wards you.
3. To help prevent the vehicle from rolling
into the street when parked on a sloping
driveway, it is a good practice to turn the
wheels as illustrated.cHEADED DOWNHILL WITH CURB:
s1
Turn the wheels into the curb and move
the vehicle forward until the curb side
wheel gently touches the curb.
cHEADED UPHILL WITH CURB:
s2
Turn the wheels away from the curb and
move the vehicle back until the curb side
wheel gently touches the curb.
cHEADED UPHILL OR DOWNHILL, NO
CURB:
s3
Turn the wheels toward the side of the
road so the vehicle will move away from
the center of the road if it moves.
4. Turn the ignition key to the LOCK posi-
tion and remove the key.
CAUTION
cNever leave the engine running while
the vehicle is unattended.
cNever leave children unattended in
the vehicle.

5. Securely store the jacking equipment in
the vehicle. The tool kit is stored behind
the jack.
Stowing the spare tire or flat tire
1. To raise the tire to the stowed position,
install the retainer through the wheel
center and turn the wheel lug wrench
clockwise until the tire is raised to its
original position underneath the vehicle.
The spare tire hex nut ratchets when
the tire is raised. It won't allow you to
over-tighten.
2. Check for proper seating against under-body supports. If necessary, loosen tire,
reposition and retighten.
WARNING
cAlways make sure that the spare tire
and jacking equipment are properly
secured after use. Such items can
become dangerous projectiles in an
accident or sudden stop.
cThe T-type spare tire is designed for
emergency use. See specific instruc-
tions under the heading ``Wheels
and tires'' in the ``Do-it-yourself op-
erations'' section. To start your engine with a booster battery,
the instructions and precautions below must
be followed.
CAUTION
cIf done incorrectly, jump starting can
be hazardous.
cExplosive hydrogen gas is always
present in the vicinity of the battery.
Keep all sparks and flames away
from the battery.
cDo not allow battery fluid to come
into contact with eyes, skin, cloth or
painted surfaces. Battery fluid is a
corrosive sulfuric acid solution
which can cause severe burns. If the
fluid should come into contact with
anything, immediately flush the con-
tacted area with water.
cA battery rated higher than 12 volts
should not be used for a booster.
cWhenever working on or near a bat-
tery, always wear suitable eye pro-
tectors (for example, goggles or in-
dustrial safety spectacles) and
remove rings, metal bands, or any
other metal jewelry.
cKeep battery out of the reach of
children.
