Adjusting

engine

valves

clearance

clearance

the
valve
to
seat

valve

noisy
operation

Adjustment

engine
switched
off

and
should
be
carried
out

initially
with

engine
cold
to

allow
the

engine

The

engine
can
be
rotated

by
removing
the

sparking
plugs
to
release

the

cylinder
compressions
then

selecting

top
gear
and

pushing

the
vehicle
backwards
and
forwards

The
cold
valve
clearances
should
be
set
to
0

mm

the
clearance
between
the

locknut

turn

adjusting

the

specified
clearance

obtained

tighten

locknut
and
recheck
the
clearance

gauge

be

to

the
rocker

clearances

been
set
run
the

engine
until
it
reaches
its
normal

temperature
then

switch
off
and

adjust
the

Overhaul
of
the

pump
will

require
careful
measurement

of

the
various
clearances
to
determine
the
amount

of
wear

which

has
taken

place
If

any
part
is
found
to
be
worn
it

may
be
neces

sary
to

replace
the
entire
oil

pump
assembly
To
remove
the
oil

pump
from
the

engine
proceed
as
follows

sump
drain

plug
and
drain
off
the

engine
oil

the

body
together
with
the
